Haitian Ministries for the Norwich Diocese operates the non-profit shop, Haiti's Back Porch located at 100 Riverview Center
in Middletown, Conn., which supports many artisans in Haiti. The shop sells a wide range of extraordinary art, crafts and other goods. Sales are made at the shop, at various craft events throughout the year, and through the Internet at their online
ebay store. They purchase directly from Haitian artisans and artisan collectives to bring the finest and most unique gifts to American buyers.

Very desirable, these beautiful hand made bowls from Einstein Albert in Haiti are food safe and art at the same time. Made from the local tree Obeechi wood is very light and in it's natural state a very light color with black stripes. It takes 14 steps to make it look like this. Princess Diana owned one of his bowls and he named a particular style of bowl after her. Einstein sells his bowls to Neiman Marcus and 10,000 Villages. Our nonprofit store, Haiti's Back Porch, has now the largest variety anywhere in the world.

Haitian Ministries for the Norwich Diocese is a nonprofit organization partnering Haitian and American communities through culutral exhange and support of Haitian initiated projects. Through Haiti's Back Porch we help about 65 Haitian artists to support themselves and their families. We buy directly from the artists. We are helping "Haitiians Help Haitians". Shoppers are pleased to know their purchase helps fund our feeding programs and medical clinics.
In keeping with our mission of 'Helping Haitians help Haitians,' we colloborate with Haitian individuals and organizations assisting those most in need. We financially support two orphanages, a meal program for children, a medical clinic, and medical missions. Also, we started and administer a scholarship program in which 140 children and young adults receive full tuitions to attend schools, some of them primary and secondary schools, others technical institutions and universities. We work with an agronomist who runs a small nature center, helps in reforestration programs throughout the country, and provides environmental education in schools
